Adam’s blog: Inclusive society?

I met a copywriter recently who told me she was writing a charity auction catalogue, and the most frequently occurring ‘prizes’ were “A week’s work experience with XX, a top media company, which will give you unrivalled access to top media contacts etc etc. The companies included legal firms, advertising companies, PR agencies…. There is something nauseating about a room full of extremely well off individuals paying through the nose to allow their children to get straight to the seat of power of some of the biggest companies in the UK. As the bidding mostly started at £1,000 there is no way, economically or socially, that less well off young people could ever be offered this same opportunity. It takes accessibility to a new low. Still….it’s all for charity.
