We asked our employees just that and their responses were interesting, challenging and occasionally amusing!
One of the nicest quotes came when we asked about what people felt about their colleagues. “Everyone has a similar mentality. Shaping the future and young people is important to us all. It’s a very flexible, open organisation, with lots of trust and encouragement to be independent.”
81.3% of our employees felt supported and trusted by their managers. 88% say that they feel the rewards package Changemakers offers is good. And we are looking to the future too; 75% of our employees felt they had been given opportunities to learn and grow. The same amount of employees felt that their managers listened to their ideas for evolving the business.

Our more informal research also uncovered the fact that two of our employees are “leading authorities on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. When questioned about funniest moments at Changemakers, someone sheepishly admitted accidentally squirting passion fruit juice all over their colleagues, desks and computers, and one of the favourite memories quoted involved Adam Nichols, our Chief Executive, “fighting for the mic at karaoke!”
On a more serious note, one of our Changemakers employees said that their proudest moment was “involving young asylum seekers and refugees in both the work of Changemakers in Birmingham and The Youth of Today Fellowship residential.”

“When you are working day-to-day it is too easy to forget to look at your workplace as a whole, and see where you’ve come from and where you are going,” says Adam. “Feedback exercises like this are essential to make sure that we are evolving organically and that our employees are viewing their work with us as a journey. We are very proud of everyone who works at Changemakers and their views, as well as their work, are vital to our success.”

We could not be more proud of these results. We know that an online survey is an online survey and that the real indication is through the way we work as an organisation, the conversations we have and the feedback we give each other, but for a first survey, this is pretty impressive.
